Through The Looking-Glass

I think a majority of people generally walk around viewing their world one of two ways: either looking for differences or looking for similarities. Some people are seeking out confirmations for their biases to validate their hatred or discontentment. Some people prefer to illiuminate and magnify the things are connect them to others. No man is an island (peninsula, maybe?).

I’m typically looking for similiarities. My heart doesn’t belong to any one specific genre of music. I love the entire genre of art that is music and because of that, I like to look for points of intersection across different styles or even those within the same category. Some people have photographic memory, I have phonographic memory.

I like songs that begin similarly, have similar themes and similar titles. That may be the old mixtape (homemade cassette mixtapes) fanatic in me from years ago. It ties things together and further solidifies the notion that everyone and everything has more in common than not. Kumbaya, right?

Everything overlaps.
